 I have been on Adderall my whole life. While it really helped me manage school/work stress, and made me productive, I felt like it altered my personality. Since getting older and learning better work habits (and becoming a coffee drinker), getting off it has been a huge help for my social life. But they had a good reason. My oldest sister had a slew of medical problems just before I was born/ while I was growing up. She was on so many meds during her youth that she actually Permanently fucked up her brain and now can never operate like a normal person. I know my mom feels so guilty for blindly trusting doctors, and when I was having health issues growing up I pretty much only ever was allowed antibiotics, no pain meds or steroids, etc. Treatment for mental illnesses/ long term things is incredibly difficult because that’s SUCH A LONG TIME to have to plan for. Meds will have to be adjusted. They don’t always work. The side effects can be bad. Money. Health changes.
