 We carry ready mix concrete for jobs and we usually carry 1 at a time. Until someone decides to take 2 because only bitches carry one. Then someone ups the ante to 3 and we just stop. One bag is 40kgs which is 88 pounds. The three bags is 120kgs roughly 264 pounds. It's just fun, to be honest. No one tried to carry 4, that would not just be dangerous but fucking stupid because the bags would burst. Plus since we do this shit all the time and carry 2 at once if we are lacking time we got used to carrying heavy loads over short distances. When I was installing split ACs I was the one usually to carry the big unit which was at least 40kgs and at most 70-80kgs up a ladder to like 3-4-5 meters withholding the unit with one hand only and using the other for climbing. You get used to this stuff. Anyone who does this with relatively low weights can double up for a short period without risks of injury (yes in construction 40kgs is relatively low weight). If you don't learn your body's limit you will get injured no question. Most injuries I've seen were people that were not used to even low weights, using the bad technique to pick up something heavy. Many people try to help us moving heavy shit. To be honest some of these guys would be able to lift more than me in a gym setting. However, since they are not used to any weights that are not balanced, lifting with them is actually quite dangerous for them and for me. I've had a guy help me move a cast iron bath which was heavy as shit. He had a wrong move while taking it out a doorway and he needed to pivot to one side. He fucked the motion up, slipped his hand while holding on with the other and it nearly dislocated his shoulder. He was sore for the whole week we worked there. I was fine because I've done this with lower weights with the correct technique.
