Kings Canyon is gorgeous but it’s kinda like Yosemite on difficult mode since so much of it isn’t nearly as accessible. The best way to experience kings canyon is via the John Muir trail which is something I’d honestly recommend anyone try to do if they fancy themselves something of an outdoorsman. Even if it’s just sections of the trail at a time by going in and out of the passes along the trail. But damn if Rae lakes and evolution lake aren’t some of the most gorgeous sections of that entire 213 miles. Many of the popular parks, I think, have become this way. There is a 'visitor' space that is carefully managed to limit the ecological impact of so many casual visitors. But if you're willing to strap on a pack and go deep in the parks, that 'commercial' feel goes away very fast. The only exception might be the mist trail, which is so staggeringly beautiful that most people hike at least past Vernal Falls
