 I’m from Illinois. We border Kentucky and Indiana, which are among the most reliant on the federal government. Illinois is a giver state, yet the takers complain about us and make our state seem like hell while taking our money. This is what I wonder about NY outside of the city. You've actually had movements calling for them to secede and become their own state. NYC is responsible for like 98% of the state's money and they think they could survive without us. They literally would have less money than every state and I think two or three of our outlying islands. It's a really weird mindset they have out there. My GF's family lives in rural NY & is always complaining about NYC. I try to point out the nice things they have compared to my little WV due to our lack of ANY city, like the highways, education, or most notably to me, the ridiculously nice rest stops NY has. Because they're just picturing the city being the Southside that DT paints, full of welfare queens with sons in gangs killing each other. And poor white people would rather suffer than get assistance at the cost of black people also getting assistance.

It’s just benign cancer... until it’s malignant. These last four years have shown the uneducated south as metastatic.
