 Editing to add: when I took meds in college, I noticed I cared about some things more, but other things less. I definitely changed. I am usually a foodie and don’t have an appetite for meds. Music also doesn’t really hit me the same way, which is another reason why I choose now, as an adult, to not take meds - I like my music. Okay, I have no idea if this would work with what you have, but assuming the foot is larger than the protein bits maybe you can find a colander or strainer that keeps the food in, but the protein falls through the holes and voila, it’s sorted! A lot of pet foods are coated with additives and stuff so the thing the cat is allergic to could very well be part of a coating that's definitely contaminated everything in the bin. And it's not as if you guys all use every last minute to its maximum efficiency and cram productive shit into it. People universally kill time, and that itself is restful. I'd argue it's better for you to be spacing out while sorting beads than it is watching shitty entertainment programs.
