Removed all gravel, and items so it effectively became a hospital tank. I don't remember if we added anything to the water other than maybe a little bit of betta care that we discovered hiding in the fish cabinet. There wasn't much of it left so I used it sparingly. Extra tiny dose with each water change each day. I figured that it was better than nothing. Made several orders at several pet stores and websites, didn't care about the price at the time. Just wanted any form of fin rot care available. Eventually one got through the mail for us and I treated him with the dose size for his tank each day. Kept the water changes daily for another week or so. I'd add a day or two after he showed signs of improvement after the latest water change. Kept it that way until his new tank had cycled
