Agreed! Utah is amazing for that. Southern Utah is gorgeous and filled with some of the most unique rock formations you'll ever see. But the SLC area is another beast as well. The Wasatch mountain range is 20 minutes away from Downtown and you can be on a hike 11k feet above sea level in no time. The most relaxing of the parks we visited. There aren't a lot of attractions and there are fewer visitors so you are forced to unwind as opposed to feeling like you have a checklist of things to do while you're there. Also if you look up a picture of it, you'll think, the water can't be that blue it must be a filter. Nope, it's that blue and it's breathtaking. Montana native here imploring people to see both Glacier and Yellowstone. Mid-late September is my favorite for Yellowstone. Put a forced stop at Mammoth Hot Springs town area in the early evening to see competing Bull Elk and their herds. It’s amazing. PDGAreject covered Glacier perfectly!
